& Tournament Policy

REVERSE COED 2'S RULES .

Reverse Co-ed Rules: The net is set at Women's height. No service restrictions. The man must begin his attack from behind the 10' line. He may not reach higher than 7'4.25' when hitting the ball from in front of the 10' line. While standing in front of the 10' line the mans hand may never cross above the invisible plane of 7'4.25, regardless of where the ball is. The bottom of the ball can be at 7'4.25' and the man may still legally poke it over. The man may not block at the net. Only the Women can block at the net.

FOURS

A. FOURS rules: There are no back row player's. Everyone is available to hit at the net every play. Player's need not rotate but they must follow a serve order. Serving out of order accidentally is not a fault. The roster can have more than four players on it. There must be at least one member of each gender represented on the court at all times. If there are more than 2 females on the court, the 3rd female must be a designated male. Handsetting over the net is permitted on any play.

B) Serve must be received with hands together. Open hand beach digs are not permitted for receiving serve, only for hard driven balls other than the serve.

C) The ball must come off with a clean pop when receiving serve and soft driven balls. No open hand dinks or pushes. NO INDOOR SLOPBALL PERMITTED, ball contacts must be clean unless harddriven.

D) FOURS PRIZES:  1st and 2nd place recieve prizes

CDVA RULES 2002

1) The block does not count as a hit, meaning a total of 4 contacts including the block.
2) No penalty for serving out of order. It is the opponents responsibility to catch the wrong server before or as they serve the ball. To be sure that nobody serves twice, it may be necessary to change the serving order.
3) Handsetting: The ref should call a fault when there is excessive spin velocity, or double contact. Deep dishing is also a fault. The handset should not fall beneath eye level. No handsetting over the net at any time in any way, shape or form even if you are squared to the net.
The OPEN division is exempt from the overset rule.
4) It is legal to hit the ball with two hands open palmed as long as both hands are held together. Held together means that the hands must have an overlap from the finger tip to the thumb joint. Thumbs hooked alone is not considered hands together. Palms connected alone is OK if the ball does not touch any part of the fingers. The ball must come off the hands with a clean pop, without rolling off the hands or being pushed off. If the ball is hard driven then open hands are OK as long as the ball does not come to rest.
5) Hard driven balls: You may dig a hard driven ball open handed or with any part of the body, head to toe. This can be sloppy with multiple contacts, as long as the ball is not caught and thrown. If a player plays a soft driven ball with a hand set, then the handset must be clean and rule #3 applies. A soft driven ball may not be chucked up with a handset motion, it must be cleanly set or played.
6) Landing in the net: If the ball is down and a player’s momentem lands them in the net, it is still a fault.
It is ok for hair to touch the net or light brushes of clothing.
7) Point Caps: There are no point caps on any game.
8) If a team forfeits then the rest of that teams games will be listed as F11- 6 or F15- 8 depending on an 11 or 15 point game. They will be listed as a win for the remaining teams to be played. If a player’s partner is injured then he/she can pick up a new partner. The
matches remaining will however, officially be forfeited
at F11-6 or F 15-8. If the opponents refuse to play, then it is the opponent who must forfeit. This lets the other players have the full day of play that they came for.
9) If the ref makes a call contrary to the rules, then it can be changed. In a judgement call the refs call is final.
10) After you lose a match in the playoffs, you must remain to ref the next match.

12) Co-ed Service Guidelines: CDVA has NO RULE
regarding to whom you must serve in co-ed events.
A majority of the teams below the OPEN level seem to prefer to use courtesy, men serving the men. If a man is serving to a woman, accidently or intentionally and the other team feels abused by this, they can retaliate in kind. There is NO PENALTY for serving to the woman.
13) Do not keep a written record of Tie-breaker games. They are not included in the seeding statistics.
14) THE GOLDEN RULE:
REFS MUST REF! REFS MUST REF!
There is no such thing as, “I’m just keeping score”, or
“Call your own, it’s the honor system”.
15) No Soccer, Football or baseball cleats. Only small soft nubbed turf shoes are acceptable. The others cause too much damage to your opponents feet and to the grass.
16) Contrary to USAV, the first ball over the net may not be double hit. The person receiving serve may not double hit the ball. The serve is never considered hard driven even if it comes fast. Only hard driven balls may be double hit. The serve may not be recieved with a handset only open hands together with a clean pop. See rule #4.
17) Use of feet. You may not serve the ball with your feet!
You may however, use your feet for any other play, provided the ball is cleanly kicked.
18) We have not adopted the new sloppy indoor style of play. Outdoors one must still use proper Volleyball skills.
19) You may handset a free ball as long as the handset is clean according to rule #3. You may not handset the serve under any circumstance.
20) One point may be deducted by the referee from any team for all shouted cuss words.
21) Players must work all matches as scheduled.
22) Teams are not allowed to strategically forfeit games.
We only pay as far as you play. Forfeiting the finals to split the prize money is prohibited.
